The bathrooms in this hospital are atrocious. The maintenance staff are not doing their jobs. Soap and sanitizer dispensers are frequently empty. Paper towels empty and needing refills. Toilets are 20th century hand flushing instead of touchless. Waiting rooms constantly have garbage laying around. The parking lot hasn't been cleaned since it was built.

I was in a life-threatening condition. UM hospital got me processed and into surgery within a few hours. The emergency room can be slow but that is understandable since they go by severity of case first. Surgery went very well the staff at the surgical ICU did a superb job taking care of me and finally getting me into a room.

My wife was in the hospital for 2 days so I had the opportunity to eat here twice. They definitely are trying to upscale the café.

The 1st day, I tried the gyro with a side Greek salad, just fair.

The next day , I had 2 slices of pizza which was also just ok.

As far as the depends on the day. The staff are nice for the most part.

The hospital is still using covid excuses for visitors. The rules are ridiculous!

Only 2 visitors per room. The spouse or a parent should be able to stay at all times! Then two visitors in and out. It is dumb as most of the rooms are big enough. But okay.

Today they didn't even allow all of us to go upstairs. 2 could go in the room and the others could have relaxed in the area outside the cafeteria on the 3rs floor.
NO wasn't even allowed there. Had to wait downstairs, where there wasn't anywere with a table to sit and read, like the cafeteria has.

How to treat people like a paycheck and rude. Oh your worried about your familu member to bad. Sit in front of the hospital like some homeless person.

There is no reason the others shouldn't be able to go to the cafeteria, outside area. Just a power trip.
UM the doctors are good.
The administration? They are still in power trip covid mode. They are patienta as a pay check and do not worry about anything else.

The 5 stars for service was for the nurses, the doctors, their market place and cafeteria were the nicest. They tried to be as helpful as possible. UM Hospital is lucky to have others that are amazing.

My nurse was awsome but the cleanliness was Awful, Doctor's went to see me the day after i was admitted. I was admitted in the morning with a heart condition and Doctor's to check up on me the next day when i started batching. I'm giving 3 stars because my nurse was awsome.

Visited my friends several times there. All said they were treated very well, The staff was very compassionate and competent.
I also noted they were very intuitive and and anticipated the needs of their patient.

Not a terrible hospital but definitely has a lot of problems especially with organization and quality of care, they make a lot of mistakes and take a long time to communicate/get back to you, especially if you have pending results.

And they do not hide their greed, they will do everything they can to milk you for as long as possible (you will notice this very early on if you just pay attention to what they say and do).

When I tried to leave after being told 5 times that nothing serious is wrong with me (just a small and minor infection) but that they wanted me to stay for 1 more day, (for 4 days straight they said this) and then saying that actually I should stay for 3 days or more while having IV in me, they brought in the Nurse manager (this nurse manager was 1 of the most ignorant and meanest people I have seen in a hospital especially in a managerial position, he kept trying to push us into a corner with the other lady from patient experience) and someone from administration to bully me and basically beg me not to leave and stay for a while more. They even ended up telling me that the labs ended up finding a bad infection, even though they just told me that I have nothing a few hours ago!! So, when I told them that I was never told by anyone that my results showed something bad they just stayed quiet, they should say everything. And let me tell you, having Antibiotics put in you 24/7 for multiple days damages you more then you can imagine, I was always tired and weak.

They already made thousands of dollars off me the past few days just from the room stay/IV meds/and 2 minor procedures that they said fixed the problem i had. These people are vultures. And whenever they say they will be back or when I ask for something it always takes 2-3 hours for anyone to show up.
I asked for my new results that they said came back and they gave it to me hours later. Even most of the residents knew what was going on and hated dealing with the nurses and administrators who have everyone on a leash. Not everyone here is bad or only thinks about greed, but I will say a large percentage of the nurses/administrators and senior doctors fall into that category.
It is sad that this is what medicine and patient care has become but it is the reality now.

They ended up sending in a group of doctors and telling me that what I have is not that serious and that I can go home on oral antibiotics!!!! But only after I put my foot down and continue to say that I want to leave since the doctors already told me that I am fine.

(Now keep in mind that this is my own personal experience and may not be the same as other patients but definitely a lot have experienced the same and worse.)
